Lion King

On my safari to Kenya we came upon this beautiful male lion, who gazed at us from his perch in this low-lying grass. As a wildlife artist, I had painted and dreamt about African elephants since I was a kid and now here was the lion king staring deep into my eyes, into my soul really. The wisdom that came through his stare mesmerized me and we stayed with him throughout the afternoon light. This iconic animal cast a spell on me and I painted this beautiful portrait of him inspired by that magical safari moment in Kenya. I feel this is one of my best paintings to date.
